Fergus the UK Essays Christmas tree

We’ve been busy here in the run up to the holiday season, but we’ve taken a few minutes out to decorate the UK Essays office, and we’re proud to announce that Christmas has finally arrived here with the introduction of the oh-so festive Fergus. Fergus the UK Essays Christmas tree Feel free to pop in to see ‘Fergus the fir tree’ and talk about your order options with us. Did you know we are available for face-to-face appointments to discuss our services with you?

On the topic of our services, you may have noticed that The Telegraph published an article on Wednesday, discussing the essay industry and the services available for struggling students. We are relieved the article recognises that handing in work that isn’t your own is plagiarism, and the article even quotes our very own Jilly Walden who reiterates the value of our model answer service as a learning tool to help you; it is by no means cheating when used properly. If you’re feeling a little unsure of the order process or simply want to discuss the services we can offer you, then we’d welcome a visit from you to chat through your options. Just contact us here to request an appointment or alternatively browse through the site for an idea of the services we offer.

UK Essays raises money for Children in Need!

UK Essays raises money for Children in Need!
As ever, we’ve been consistently working hard here at UK Essays to help students in need of help with their studies, but we thought it was about time to turn our attention elsewhere and raise money for Children in Need.
Waxing the yeti's leg
Now for the chest
On 18th November, our very own HR man – Lee – donated his flocculent body for the morning, in aid of a very entertaining waxing session. We all took our turns in spreading the hot wax and ripping the strips away to reveal skin as soft as a baby’s bum! As painful as it looked (and sounded!), Lee endured it until the money pot filled to a generous £155, at which point it was about time we let him recover…and moisturise!

We also all made the effort to ‘show our Pudsey spots’ in donning polka-dotted attire, as well as cake baking and selling off the results. From moist carrot cake to beautiful cupcakes, and even a box of Thorntons thrown in, our stomachs were well lined for the day.

And that wasn’t all; as part of the bonus of working hard for you here at UK Essays, we are usually rewarded with breakfast cereals to give us a daily morning boost as well as a ‘coffee morning buffet’ on Fridays as part of our Friday company meeting, but this week we decided it was only right to donate the funds usually spent on these items to Children in Need. After all, we can all live without our luxuries if it means we can help out elsewhere!

All in all, a whopping £260 was raised for Children in Need, so here’s to beating that great total next year! For now though, we have some important model answers and essay help to provide…

Do let us know of your fundraising activities, as we’ll need some good ideas in future, since Lee may not be ‘available’ next time.
Ouch!

Student Finances 2011-2012

Student Finances 2011 – 2012
There are simply loads of articles and resources online to help students with their finances. To help you find the best advice available we are going to put links to some of the best out there.

There are really two key areas to your student finances; your student loans i.e. your tuition fees loan and your maintenance loan, and your student bank account with its interest free overdraft. We are not going to include any other types of borrowing as any other types are a bad idea! Do not get a credit card as these are not going to be interest free, even for students :)

Tuition Fees Loan

This loan is paid straight to your university each year to cover the cost of your tuition fees. In the academic year 2011/2012 the maximum a university can charge for tuition is £3,375. Whatever your tuition fee charge is, you can borrow this from the government at very favourable rates and they will pay the money you borrow straight to your university, basically you never see this money so you can’t blow it ;)

Check out Money Saving Expert for more details on the tuition fees loan…

Maintenance Loan

Every full-time student is entitled to apply for a maintenance loan. This is basically the money that the government will loan to you so you can live whilst you’re studying at university. This loan is to cover your rent, food and entertainment (not that you will be going out much obviously :)

Everyone is entitled to a maintenance loan of up to 75% of the full standard loan amount (the amount you can get varies by area i.e. where you are studying e.g. you get more to study in London as it is a stinger to live there :) The loan amount you get above this guaranteed 75% is income assessed so it depends on your parent’s income as to how much you can borrow.

Money Saving Expert have a great guide to the maintenance loan here…

Student Bank Accounts

The major high street banks will now be queuing up to get you as a customer whilst you are a student. They want your custom now as they assume you will probably stay with them once you leave university and then they will start making money from you! All of the major banks will offer you an interest free overdraft and, sorry to say this, you are going to need it!

When choosing your student bank account you are going to want the one that comes with the largest interest free overdraft as borrowing money this way makes much more sense than a credit card of any other type of interest based loan…it’s interest free!

Golden rule: make sure you never go over your overdraft limit. If you do, you are going to be charged, so don’t do it!

Money Saving Expert has a superb guide to the best student accounts out there and how to select the best one for you…read it!

Good Luck

There you go, that’s your student finance options in a nut shell. Basically, borrow all the money you need using the interest free over draft offered by your student bank account and the low interest rate loans available from the government. Do not be tempted to get a credit card, they will not be interest free and are a bad way to borrow money in the long term. If you are still struggling for cash, why not get a part time job.

If your parents are panicking about your student finances then there is a great parents’ guide to student finances here…

A day in the life of…Danielle

I’m Danielle and I work in the Quality and Aftercare department. My role is to supervise the team and help ensure the department runs as smoothly as possible. Our core tasks involve quality checking every single order that is submitted by our researchers, so my team and I perform quality checks by reading through your order to check it meets your order requirements thoroughly. On occasion, where appropriate, we offer advice to your researcher for potential areas of improvement simply to make sure you are entirely satisfied with your model answer. Our other main responsibility involves communicating with you, our clients, post-delivery of your order. This involves answering any questions you may have, any issues you may have with your order, as well as any amendment requests you’d like to make. My task is to deal with your correspondence as promptly as possible and in the best way possible to ensure your satisfaction.

So, a typical day for me would involve arriving around 9am (depending on my shift that day), grabbing a bowl of Special K (the one with red berries preferably) and a glass of orange squash while checking for any orders that are due to be delivered that morning, since we offer shorter turnaround services for those of you who need your model answer urgently. Once I have quality checked these, I make a start on proofreading and checking any new orders on the system. This involves ensuring the order makes full sense and has enough information to ensure the order is completed to standard.

Then my priority is to respond to all of the messages sent in by clients like you, as well as researchers working on the orders for you. These messages range from simple questions about an order or about how your researcher is progressing, to requests for clarification on the way your order has been written or any amendments you’d like to request on your order. We mainly deal via the message system, as we prefer to get everything recorded in writing to avoid any confusion or meaning lost via a telephone call. It’s difficult to scribble down notes and remember everything said in a call, hence this preference, as we want to make sure we get everything right for you should you request any changes to your order.

Throughout the day, I also quality check orders that are due out that day and carry out other minor tasks such as releasing amendments submitted, and I deal with telephone queries from researchers needing any assistance in the writing or amendment process. I also make time to check my emails, as I deal with proofreading all of the copy you see on our website, and this is where the text is sent for checking. So, I’m the one that hopes you don’t spot too many grammatical/spelling errors on the site ;)
